The Analytical Services Laboratory of the Elliot Lake Research Field Station was established in 1992.  The initial work of the laboratory was to support research into the effects of low-level radioactivity on the environment resulting from regional uranium mine waste tailings.

Building on this solid base, the laboratory began providing analytical services in support of local decommissioning and environmental monitoring programs in the region.  The laboratory currently provides a wide range of inorganic and radio nuclide analytical services to private industry in support of effluent treatment plant operations, environmental effects monitoring and research.
